A Streak of Colour in Fernie: The Banner Project

The Fernie Arts Station's Banner Project continues to be a wonderful celebration of local creativity and community. Year after year, I am amazed by their dedication to supporting artists and bringing art into public spaces.

With so many talented artists submitting work, I can understand the difficulty in selecting the pieces that will ultimately be displayed on the banners. The project showcases an incredible range of artistic voices, transforming downtown Fernie into a vibrant outdoor gallery.

I was honoured to have my artwork included in the 2025 banner collection. Seeing these banners displayed throughout Fernie’s downtown has been a source of pride and a reminder of the important role art plays in creating welcoming, beautiful spaces.

As this year's banners come down, a new collection will soon take their place, bringing a fresh streak of colour to the community. The 2025 banners will continue their journey along the highway, extending their impact and beautifying another part of our region.

The Banner Project also serves as an important fundraiser for the Fernie Arts Station and the many programs they offer to the community. Donors can purchase a banner, giving these works a second life as unique pieces of outdoor art while directly supporting local arts programming.

If you're interested in owning a piece of this year's collection, be sure to explore the available 2025 banners. And keep your eyes open this summer for the new banners that will soon be brightening the streets of Fernie.
